The combined disability and seniors excursion to the gelato factory on the 1st October, where the amazing staff @artofgelatogelateria took us on a journey through the world of gelato. Thank you to Vincent for coming out and talking to the group, who enjoyed every minute and learned so much about what you do. They loved tasting the gelato and buying some to take home. This was followed by lunch at Rashays. The feedback from the group was so positive and we will be going back there for more gelato! 🍧

Today’s trip for the combined seniors and disability groups, was to have Devonshire tea at Ebenezer Church and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. After morning tea they went into the church and learned the history of the oldest operating church in Australia. A big thank you to Ted for the interesting and informative talk. They then headed to the Macquarie Boathouse cafe for lunch, before heading back home. All had a beautiful day in the Hawkesbury. ☀️ ⛪️ 🫖 🍰 🥗

On Tuesday 30th July, the out and about seniors enjoyed a trip to Bilpin. They enjoyed morning tea a McDonald’s, followed by cider tasting and lunch at Hillbilly Cider and then visited the Bilpin fruit bowl. 🍏 🍎 🍺

Last week, the disability participants celebrated International friendship day at KCAC. The activity for the day was making friendship bracelets with beads and they all did a marvellous job! Lunch was delicious Vietnamese chicken rolls. 💛

What a glorious day the disability group had yesterday at Calmsley Hill City Farm. They were able to feed the animals such as sheep and goats, watch the sheep sheering, see the horses, cows, turkeys, chickens, camels and cows. Thank you to our Italian seniors for making it a special day today celebrating Christmas in July Italian style. Special thanks to our volunteers Anna and Melinna who made the Zipole and to all the ladies who contributed and made the delicious Italian sweets. Very crunchy and tasty. Thanks to our Connie for her cheffing of beautiful meals and of course to our hard working staff and to all our students doing their diploma in community service placements.

Yesterday, we celebrated BLUE Christmas in July, with the combined disability and Arabic seniors groups. There were Christmas carols, blue Christmas decorations, a bbq chicken feast with all the trimmings as well as art and craft, where the participants could chose from making Christmas decorations or colouring. We decided to go blue, to support the blues in the state of origin decider that night, and they won!!! We wish everyone a happy Christmas in July and go the mighty Blues!! 💙🎄💙🎄💙

NAIDOC WEEK 2024 at KCAC, saw the disability participants merge with the vacation care kids, on Wednesday 10 July, to enjoy some educational Aboriginal entertainment, starting with the smoking ceremony, 🪵 followed by boomerang throwing with the kids🪃, indigenous art and craft, painting emu 🥚, learning about various pieces of nature used by Aboriginal people and more. 🦘 Lunch was yummy damper rolls with salad and meat with some chippies on the side. There were over 70 participants in attendance. Thank you to all involved in the organising of another successful NAIDOC Week event.

Todays adventure to the NSW Rail Museum at Thirlmere, with the combined disability and seniors groups. What a fabulous day we all had. Yesterday, the combined disability and seniors groups enjoyed an outing to experience the giant that is Costco! They were given VIP passes to shop and a tour, followed by a very economical lunch. The grouped really enjoyed it and did some bulk shopping of the goodies they found. A great day all in all. Last Wednesday, the KCAC disability participants enjoyed a music therapy day, with the wonderful music therapist, Belinda. Lunch was a sausage sizzle, rolls and salads. Yesterday, the disability participants celebrated the cultural festival of the Italian Republic, with Italian biscuits for morning tea, dancing and singing to Italian music, a delicious italian lunch and themed craft such as making friendship bracelets and colouring. Making the friendship bracelets was tricky at first but they got the hang of it and created some great patterns that were all very unique. Everyone had a wonderful time. 🇮🇹 🍝 🥖 🥗 🪗 💃 🎶

Tuesdays trip to Robertson was a cold but beautiful sunny day for the combined seniors and disability group. There was a delicious brunch at @moonacreskitchen followed by the Cheese Factory and vintage shop, then the famous pie shop to pick up some yummy pies for home. The journey there and back in the bus saw the group singing to all their favourite songs. Thank you to our wonderful KCAC bus driver, Max, for getting us there and back safely. ☀️ ❄️ 🍽️ 🧀 🐄 🥧 😀

Today, we combined the disability participants and the Arabic seniors group for Magic May Day, where special guest, Clement, the magician came along to perform some magic tricks for the groups. Clement went around and wowed them with his magical talent. From cards, to rings, watches and coins, things were appearing and disappearing all over the place. What a great incursion this was for everyone. Thanks to Clement and Omegan Entertainment for providing a great show!! Yesterday was Mexican May Fiesta day, for the disability group, as part of Neighbourhood Centre Week! It was a colourful day and everyone dressed the part. There was Mexican food 🌮 , Mexican music 🎶 , dancing 💃, the piñata 🪅 and Mexican colouring. There were even mockaritas served, 🍹and cheese quesadillas for morning tea. 🫔 We also had 2 birthdays to celebrate for Sam and Katie. We wish them both the very best and many happy returns. 🎂🥳

Yesterdays Anzac Day outing for the KCAC Disability group was lunch at Ramsgate RSL Club. We saw the poppys along the memorial garden and enjoyed a delicious lunch together. We hope everyone has a great Anzac Day. Lest we forget.

What a great time we had yesterday, with the disability participants for dress up day! We came dressed as our favourite music icons or eras to sing karaoke, dance, laugh and play an 80s trivia game to win prizes. 🎤 🎶 🪩 💃 🕺 Lunch was fish and chips with salad, and the participant feedback was so positive as they all had the best day.

The main activity for the disability participants today was, making their own cheesecakes. Lunch was pasta, garlic bread, salad and fruit. Dessert was one of their cheesecakes and they had one to take home. Everyone did an amazing job and the cheesecakes looked and tasted delicious. 🍰

Yesterday, the KCAC disability participants experienced candle making. They learnt about temperatures, fragrances, soy wax and how to put them together. They set up their own containers and placed in their wicks, before kcac staff safely poured in the hot wax. The scent used was old english rose and the whole centre smelled amazing. Lunch was healthy cold meats, cheese and salad rolls. 🕯️🌹 🥗 🥖😀

The combined seniors and disability participants went on a scenic trip via Jamberoo to see the beautiful Carrington Falls today. They then visited the famous Robertson Pie shop for lunch and goodies to take home, before returning home via Bowral. Everyone had a fantastic time singing to their favourite songs on the bus trip. Thank you to Max for the great driving there and back. Thank you to the staff for assisting and thank you to the wonderful participants who came along today.☀️🌲 🚌 🥧 😀

Yesterday, the KCAC Disability participants had a cooking day, making Greek Easter biscuits. They did an amazing job creating their shapes with the dough. Lunch was green salad 🥗, spinach and ricotta pastries, chips, fruit and jelly. After completing their biscuits, the participants could choose from other activities such as colouring, playing games and drawing while they waited for lunch to be ready. A very successful Easter week at KCAC. 🐣🐰
